Zimbabwe’s first post independence leader, Robert Mugabe has died at the age of 95. He died in Singapore where he was receiving hospital treatment. The former president has been battling with ill health.
Mr Mugabe stepped down as president of Zimbabwe in 2017 in a peaceful military coup that favoured his close collaborator, Emerson Mnangagwa to emerge as Zimbabwe’s second post independence leader after thirty years.
Robert Mugabe will be remembered in his political carrier for seizing lands from whites minority and handing it to blacks in Zimbabwe, a move which invited hatred from the UK, former colonial master to upper Rhodesia, non Zimbabwe.
