Military Council and pro-democracy movement led by civilians have on saturday 17 August, 2019 reached a power sharing deal in Khartoum, Sudan’s headquarter.

The joint power sharing rule will last for three years where elections will be held.

Both parties have signed for a smooth establishment of a cabinet headed by the civilian wing and a legislative body.

Sudan has been gripped by tension and instability for over eight months which saw the peaceful overthrow of Omar Al-Bashir. This agreement is expected to set a lasting peace in the east African state.
