Mara Phone, a smartphone by the pan-African conglomerate Mara Group, has opened its first factory in Rwanda as the company hopes to pioneer a brand of African-made smartphones.
The president of Rwanda Paul Kagame has launched the smartphone factory which is located in the economic zone of the town of Kigali.
This gesture comes at a time when Rwanda’s quest for technology to aid social services in the country has been on the rise.
This smartphone assembly plant happens to be the first smartphone factory by Mara conglomerate in Africa.
According to reports, these made in Rwanda phones will be available in local and international markets in 2 months.
