MTN Nigeria has shut its outlets and service centers till further notice, sites security challenges for its customers and workers due to rising tension as a result of xenophobic attacks.

This action comes after  some Nigerians staged attacks against the South African multinational communication network provider in retaliation to xenophobic campaigns by some South Africans over foreigners where Nigerians has suffered.

Some MTN shops were burnt and mast also set ablaze in Ibadan. Also, other shops belonging to South Africans have been vandalized.

MTN has condemned xenophobic acts while promising to maintain a cordial relationship with its customers across Africa.

Nigeria offers the largest market to the Mobile Telephone Network with over 50 million users.
